Regnery Publishing, Inc.

Regnery Publishing is the country’s leading publisher of conservative books.   Since Henry Regnery founded the company back in 1947, we  have focused on publishing books that challenge the status quo, books that spark a debate, and books that get people talking about the issues and questions we face as a country.

From the very start, Regnery has been a major force within the conservative movement.   In our early years,  Regnery helped establish and sustain the postwar conservative intellectual movement in America, publishing such authors as Russell Kirk (The Conservative Mind), William F. Buckley Jr. (God and Man at Yale), Whittaker Chambers (Witness), and many other giants of modern American conservatism. After lighting a political firestorm in academia with Buckley’s God and Man at Yale in 1951, Henry started his own line of quality paperback classics called Regnery Gateway.   The Gateway series ultimately grew to more than 200 titles, and included authors ranging from St. Augustine to Karl Marx, from Ambrose Bierce to the Japanese novelist Natsume Soseki, from Boethius to Carl von Clausewitz.

In 1993, Regnery Publishing became part of Eagle Publishing.   Since then, Regnery has led the resurgence of conservative publishing in America.   Our list of authors reads like a “who’s who” of conservative thought and action, including Ann Coulter, Steve Forbes, David Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin, Dinesh D’Souza, Newt Gingrich, Mark Steyn, Mark Levin, Ed Klein, David Horowitz, Laura Ingraham, Mark Skousen, Donald Trump, and many more.   For the past 15 years, Regnery has boasted one of the best batting averages in the business–placing more than fifty books on the New York Times bestseller list, including nine books at #1.

The AmateurCalled “small but mighty” by the Wall Street Journal, Regnery Publishing, Inc. is now considered by many to be the hottest independent book publisher in the country. Some have said that without the books published by Regnery, the conservative movement would look considerably different than it does today.

The list of Regnery books having significant impact is too lengthy to include in one place, but it is worthwhile to mention just a few:

  • Russell Kirk’s The Conservative Mind and William F. Buckley’s God and Man at Yale – the first of many books for both authors – were seminal works in establishing the conservative philosophy in America.
  • Red Horizons, by Ian Mihai Pacepa, exposed the inside workings of the Romanian government and is considered by many observers to have been the linchpin that brought down Bucharest’s Communist government.
  • Senatorial Privilege, by journalist Leo Damore, was the groundbreaking work about Chappaquiddick, and was the book that put the brakes on Ted Kennedy’s presidential aspirations once and for all.
  • A long list of books about the Clinton Administration, from veteran FBI agent Gary Aldrich’s Unlimited Access, to Bill Gertz’s Betrayal to Barbara Olson’s The Final Days (all of which were New York Times bestsellers), led the way in exposing one of the most corrupt administrations in recent history.
  • Bernard Goldberg’s Bias, another Regnery #1 bestseller, created an uproar in the mainstream media that has resonated for years.
  • The Swift Boat veteran’s blockbuster book Unfit for Command rocketed to the top of the best seller lists in 2004 and was a key factor in defeating John Kerry’s White House bid.

In 2012, the hottest political book in the country was once again a Regnery blockbuster – The Amateur, by veteran author and journalist Ed Klein. The book dominated virtually every bestseller list in the country, including four weeks at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list, and another eight weeks in the top five. Lauded by everyone from Dick Cheney to Rupert Murdoch (who tweeted: “Long, long flight to LA read The Amateur (Bill Clinton’s word) by Ed Klein. Every voter should read.”), The Amateur is the latest Regnery book to help drive the national debate.

P.I.G Global Warming

Religion. Science. History. There’s not a topic or issue that hasn’t been hijacked by politically-correct historians, academics, and media. Which is why Regnery created our bestselling series of Politically Incorrect Guides (PIGs).  Our PIGs shatter the leftist lies and myths propagated by the liberal elite and bring you the cold, hard facts about everything from the Founding Fathers and the Constitution to Global Warming and Islam. Enlightening and entertaining, our PIGs bring you the other side of the issue – the side you won’t hear on the nightly news.
